Friends and family can post updates and comments, including links to photos or photo galleries, so for instance when Kathy comes to visit us and takes a bunch of pictures she can upload them and add the link to our site, and she doesn't have to wait for me to upload the photos she sends.

Also, you can subscribe to the Blog and that way you're automatically notified if anyone makes any updates.
