Happy Halloween

One of the greatest gifts of having small children is getting to rediscover the pure joy that comes from simple pleasures like carrying a pumpkin shaped bucket so full of candy you can barely hold it. And I'm so thankful that I get at least another 7 or 8 years of watching my kids get dressed up, pretend to be a super-hero, a princess or a story-book hero and go door-to-door and say that magical phrase "trick-or-treat"!! It lets me be a kid again, at least vicariously.

Spiderman, Princess Jasmine and the Baby Butterfly had a wonderful night and came home with full buckets and smiles on their faces.

October has certainly been the busy, joyous and often hectic month I knew it would be. It started with a work trip to Johannesburg, followed by a road trip to Roanoke to see Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman in concert with dear friends Angie and Mary, which was then followed by the weekend of birthday festivities (I can't BELIEVE Daniel and Olivia are 3!!), then off for another business trip -- this time to Cancun, and I even managed to squeeze in a trip to Chichen Itza. Lots of adventure and a few milestones, all crammed into 31 days. Thanfully I'll wake up tomorrow to welcome November, a month that I except to be slower, calmer and (dare I say it) more restful. We even have a kid-free weekend planned, something David and I are hoping to make a quarterly event.

I've posted photos from Daniel and Olivia's first field trip to Hill High Farm. David took some amazing photos! I hope to post birthday photos, Cancun photos and Halloween photos soon.
